RYA pirates kick off fundraising day! Unsuspecting visitors to the RYA offices in June were treated to the sight of glamorous pirates raising money and awareness for Sailability! Taking a break from their usual sober attire the staff of the Hamble office dressed up for the day to celebrate the launch of RYAS Pirate Day. The day included a raffle and a charity lunch. The lucky winners of the raffle -a scrumptious hamper - were the gorgeous girls from the membership department. Pat Dodd, chair of RYA Sailability commented “ We were delighted by the level of support offered by the staff of RYA and we are going to work very hard to encourage and support our national pirate days as a way to raise awareness and funds for disabled sailing”. RYAS Pirate Day will start to roll out across the country next year at all RYAS foundation sites in support of the charity and raising funds for disabled sailing. It is also hoped that RYA clubs will take an interest and support the charity of the RYA.
